General Information about coherent x-ray sources

Several source types of coherent x-rays are under investigation around the world.

A rough clasification is presented in the picture below:

coherent x-ray sources

Our group is interested in the plasma x-ray lasers.

These lasers are investigated using atomic and plasma modeling codes.

The results obtained are presented in the Results section. They represent a continuation of the doctoral and postdoctoral work of Daniel Ursescu at GSI Darmstadt in the PHELIX group on x-ray lasers modeling and experiments .

General Information about computations

all the computations are performed with a 1 and 1/2 MHD code, named EHYBRID from Prof G. Pert and coworkers, which uses atomic data for computing the XRL gain (typically Cowan code).

The numerical results are post processed and several functions are represented using javascript for animating them.

Further postprocessing is planned by using a ray tracing code and a 2D MHD code.
